SPACE AGE LOVE, OUR WAY.
Welcome to The OUTer Gay and Lesbian Science Fiction/Fantasy Film Festival. Created in 2004 by Timothy Caswell, this unique film festival began with the simple desire by its founder to seek out and watch science fiction and fantasy films made by and for other gays and lesbians. As a openly gay film-maker and fan of scifi, his search naturally began with the more mainstream film festivals and later expanded to GLBT science fiction groups and conventions. He found only a handful of films, but in this search he also discovered that he was not alone. There were other queer space cadets wanting to go where few queers have gone before. Timothy's desire evolved into a mission: To enlighten, educate, enrich and entertain diverse communities about gays and lesbians in the genres of science fiction, fantasy and horror through the visual media and to promote and encourage all filmmakers and organizations seeking to foster similar goals by providing a yearly festival, promotion to other festivals and award cash prizes and grants to filmmakers. Thus, on November 4th, 2007 in Austin, Texas, Planet Earth, The OUTer Film Festival was born.
Welcome to OUTer!
